She can sew, mend, do laundry,  do some cooking, babysit. She knows how to read and write and is passable in arithmetic.

She cannot ride a horse, swim, gets motion sickness on a moving train.

Both parents are living, her father is a butcher and runs a meat market shop. There are 3 siblings, Miriam is the first born.

She is also romantically involved with Arabella Mudd, though thus far has kept that secret from her far more traditional parents.

The family is originally from Germany, they are non-practicing Jews. Like many they came to America for a better life.
