Updates: Shared NPCs, IC Weather Info, Timeline Update
The Old Ranger & Miss Temperance Jones
We have two generic Shared NPC characters that everyone can use as "storyteller" characters. If you are, for example, posting for a one-off character that does not need a profile created, you can use one of these Shared NPCs. Likewise, if you just want to do a generic storyteller post or narrative to set-up a story or scene, you can use these characters.
Use the Old Ranger for male characters or Miss Temperance Jones for female characters.
How to Use Shared NPCs
- When you create a thread or post a reply, select Use Character.
- Scroll down past your characters to Non-Player (HINT: If you have a ton of characters, you will have to scroll down to see Non-Player characters).
- Choose the NPC you wish to use.
- Please only use Non-Player Characters that are in the Shared NPC character group. Other people may create Non-Player Characters that they do not want shared. These should be in the Secondary Character group. (I.E., go to the character's profile if you aren't sure and read the bio and notes).
Shared NPCs and NPC Management
Sagas' provides the ability for everyone to post with characters that have been created specifically using the Create Non-Player Character feature under My Characters. These characters go into the Shared NPC character group.
To view and manage any Shared NPCs you've created...
- Go to My Characters
- Click on View Non-Player Characters at the top of the My Characters page.
- From this page, you can create or manage Non-Player Characters.
In-Character Weather
In the now-distant past we've had OOC discussions on how to deal with the weather conditions in the IC threads / posts. To make it easier for everyone, there are two calendars in the top left Information block on the main forum index page.
You can click on the calendar to enlarge it, choose a date, and see the weather conditions for that day.
Then, put the weather conditions at the top of your thread or post. If the weather conditions are not a factor or you don't put anything, then it'll be assumed the weather is not a factor. We're not gonna sweat it either way.
PS: You can also add the weather to the Description field when creating a new thread.
I suggest that if you do add weather information, keep it short and sweet. Use things like Windy, Clear, and Cold or Blizzard. That way the characters can flesh out how the weather is affecting them, etc.
Timeline Update
Please DO NOT start any more threads set in the month of August. Finish up August threads.
Please try to finish up September threads as well. I am trying to get us down to where the majority of us are posting in a one month time frame.
DO NOT panic! If you are still in August and need to move to September for a few threads to keep your storylines intact, that's fine. We're flexible on this. While in the future we'd like to get everyone writing in the same month, we're not making this a hard and fast rule.
