I've Got Two Guns, One For Each Of You!
Interesting stuff, I didn't know that, or just don't remember where there was any support for Case to get the job. There's no real proof he has anything to do with the rustling or the arson. And Speed is up for reelection, plus the County Sheriff spot is open. Interesting premise laid out by Cuban Writer. I will be more devoted to the care of my wife as she needs it more now. But I will keep up somehow with this.
Interesting concepts but I have some reservations.
First off Flip has to agree his marshal char is seriously wounded. Remember in the super slow motion rp world, a serious wound can take real time months to ever get past. Example: Julie mentioned to me the other day that our game has progressed 3 to 4 months 1876 time in close to 3 years real time.
Secondly, it has been pretty much established what an unpopular man Steelgrave is in town. I cannot see how even running a straw candidate would ever get enough votes to win any election. Matt Wentworth, being mayor, does not seem the type to knuckle under to threats or pressure and certainly not take bribes.
Case Steelgrave is now running an outlaw gang so could never dream to run as ...say...county sheriff.
I personally favor just finally getting on with the serious range war which seems to me will take plenty of time and involve the town for certain in many ways.
Just my two cents, hopefully others will chime in with their opinions/views!

I don't care, you can do anything but kill him off, those things happened, however, your point is well taken. Who would run since both offices would be on the ballot I got the job from Stormy because I asked, and have tried to do her proud as a result, yet the question remains, what characters would run for either office? Are they viable candidates?
I know the question has been raised between Pike and the Missus on his staying, but if Speed went down things might change. And, Pike has 15 riders just about to the ranch, and the Pikes are headed home shortly. This gets more interesting the more I think about it, and really maybe it's someone else's turn to be Town Marshal, there is always that. Everyone would expect him to win, but a spirited campaign. MD had the perfect character in Fortner for that, plus maybe a debate JP, that could be really fun. It would of course need to make Speed look bad and I'd be okay with that, but Case may have something up his sleeve to substantiate that he looks bad.
What's important is WHO will take up the reins as Marshal, and WHO will run for County Sheriff? Those are the questions.
The Dealer had a knife and the dog had a gun and the cat had a shot of Rye.
I do need a reason to bring Hunter Morgan on into town. I was going to have him, as an old friend of Shade's, to be involved in the Range War...hence why I've been in no rush to bring him in. However, he would work for either Town Marshal or County Sheriff, IF Flip is interested in moving Guyer up. Or he could hire on as Pike's deputy. Open and easy.
Once I catch up on my three threads, we can get serious on the range war and railroad things.

I have posted, https://sagas.roleplayboards.com/topic/62-the-steelgrave-gang/15, that Case is talking about running for County Sheriff. just a heads up.

HOWEVER!!! If there is another plan afoot, he may well change his mind, maybe get run out of town, or just not decide that it would be worth it after all.

In answer to the idea of Speed getting wounded, he has been as put forth above, I agree it may well help the game. It will give others a chance at the Marshal's job. Now, as far as what Pike will do, other than want revenge, I'm not quite sure yet. But in any event, this changes things. I do believe that Bongo will have a say in whatever he does going forward, as will Alice about Speed.
Change is good...
