"To be frank, you don't really look like the apron wearing clerk type," Ralph chuckled.
Pike laughed as he pictured himself in an apron with his hair all slicked down, standing behind a counter.
The man agreed with his opinion on the sometimes thin line separating the outlaw and lawman careers. Probably because both occupations involved a readiness and indeed willingness to use a gun.
"Oh shit....I ain't sure of his name....wait, his first name...I can hardly call it Christian name is something like Shade....I think. I remember that because I found it rather strange. He might well be the only jasper in the world with that name. Again sorry I can't do better but I'm still new in the community," he shrugged.
“Reckon that’d be an odd one. Shade. Don’t hear of one like that, then o’course I don’t ‘spose you’ve run onto another Pronto in yer travels either. Some downright colorful names out here in the west, that's for sure.” Pike responded. “Known some odd ones, I have. Feller down Waco way was known by ‘Post Hole,’ simply ‘cuz he was put to diggin’ ‘em the day he was hired. No tellin’ about the Shade feller.” He drained his beer, wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, and smiled. “Damn fine beer! Believe I’ll have to ride out an' see this Shade hombre an' see whot’s whot. Be seein’ ya.”
