"Yes, Dear"

"Might we have the ceremony tomorrow, Father?" asked Clara.
"I don't see why not." he said. They had stated that they wanted it to be a quick affair. "So long as you can inform the attendants by then, I'm sure I can prepare the church and a service."
Tomorrow?! Jacob paled. The actual getting married – being married to Clara, why that could happen right now as far as he was concerned; but all this talk of the preparations had made him realise how much real work needed to be done if the affair was not to come off as shabby looking. He wanted Clara to look back and remember the day fondly: simple and rough hewn, maybe, but not a ridiculous shambles. He thought about who the Best Man and Bridesmaid would be, and ridiculous shambles went up a notch on the betting stakes.
“Well, time’s getting on, maybe I’d better get rounding up the…” what had the reverend Father called them? “… the attendants. I think Wiggy’ll be at the Telegraph Office, erm, do you want me to tell Arabella, dearest?” he asked the sweetest girl in the world. He knew that Clara had been extremely uncomfortable about their visit to the saloon, even though it was just the back-door kitchen and laundry room. Also, he expected that there would be a great deal of excited screaming at the news, which might not be good for a pregnant woman to have to endure.
“And I’ll sort out the ring.” He repeated, hoping somehow that saying it out loud in a firm manner would magically make him able to procure one of sufficient quality in sufficient time. But then again, look at him and Clara: perhaps sometimes wishing did make things so.

So far the clergyman was most helpful even congenial about all this and he did not disappoint this time either when Clara wondered about a possible wedding the next next day.
"I don't see why not." the man said,"So long as you can inform the attendants by then, I'm s ure I can prepare the church and a service."
Clara nodded, pleased. Aurelian, reluctantly agreeing a quick marriage was for the best though he was sure people would still figure out easily enough the reason behind this sudden unexpected marriage of two people still in the late teens, was going to help his beloved daughter every way he could.
"I will go to the butcher and buy us a big ham for the dinner," he spoke to Clara who nodded once more.
“Well, time’s getting on, maybe I’d better get rounding up the… the attendants. I think Wiggy’ll be at the Telegraph Office, erm, do you want me to tell Arabella, dearest?” Jacob deferred to his bride to be.
"No, if she is to be my bride's mate than I should be the one to ask her, I must also go talk to Emeline," Clara answered.
A specific time was settled upon then and the group broke up, each to their own directions, each with things to do.

As all was rounded up and the discussion seemed to come to a close, Thomas could not help but feel as though he had an obligation to make this a good wedding, at least more so than usual. It would be a difficult time for the young couple, and even with the circumstances surrounding their marriage, it could be a really happy occasion.
"Alright, I suppose I'll see you all back here tomorrow afternoon." Thomas said, picking up what notes he had taken, folding them, and tucking them into his trouser pocket. He'd need to talk to the church board, and announce that there was to be a wedding. There would be no need to mention the couple's history, unless they directly asked, of course.
He gave each of the trio a comforting smile. "It'll be a good day, I think. I believe."
and with that, he bid them goodbye, for he still had a gun to finish cleaning.
