Clara stayed until the supper was prepared but then she had to take her leave. The woman insisted she take along a few of the meat and fruit pies for her father and brother to try. She assured Emeline the treats would be greatly appreciated, her menfolk were voracious eaters even if Wyatt didn't look the part.
Arrangement was made for her schedule of work days then, Clara thanked her once more, and then departed for home in a very upbeat mood. While the girl would certainly not use such words, it seemed she had found a mother figure. She still dearly missed her mother.
