"The law is the law."
"Mining's not everyone's choice of hobbies, it just happens to be mine."
She pointed to herself, "That be me! You should come and hear me sometime. I admit my dancin' ain't the greatest but everyone sez I can sing real fine."
“Yeah, I’ll bet you can. You got yourself a nice voice. But...”
“Marshal, this the man that broke my window?” John Anderson asked coming through the doorway.
“No sir, I’m afraid it was this lady here. And she took this.” Speed responded, holding up the axe handle.. “Waiting on you to see what your pleasure is.”
“Well, I, I suppose there needs to be some punishment.” Anderson said smiling at the vivacious blonde, The handle is worth a quarter dollar, but the glass. Now the window that will be another matter all together. I’ll need to speak with Hiram Lorts about it and get back to you with the cost.”
"It's broken, just keep it wrapped for a couple of weeks," Jonah declared, "try not to use it, but that won't be a problem for a while." The way the man's hand was swollen, it was going to be far too painful to move much for a while anyway.
Then he looked to Caroline. "Miss...that'll be supper and a song." With a grin and a nod to Caroline and Speed, he headed out to let Matilda know that her entertainment was in jail...for now.
“Jonah, while you’re up there ask Flandry if he’ll stand good for her til’ the matter’s settled. That way she’s not held too long, and he’s not out his entertainments.” He then looked to Anderson. “That alright with you John?”
“That will be fine, Marshal.” Anderson replied. “Well, I need to get up to see Hiram about a replacement.”
“That will be fine, Marshal.” Anderson replied. “Well, I need to get up to see Hiram about a replacement.” With that John Anderson turned and left.
"Smith? You're free to go." Speed declared. "Not to worry, the city will pay Doctor Danforth. "You actually did nothing to be charged with. I think you'll suffer enough."
