"You might be right about a shoulder holster." That was something he hadn't considered. "It might be less intimidating since it would be hidden under my coat."
Not that he had a problem carrying a weapon, but people wanted to think of doctors as peaceful, healers, even if they didn't have an issue with them being armed. Besides, if he seemed harmless, all the better. Of course, that would mean a smaller firearm, but he didn't really think he needed a Peacemaker!
"And I will take this seriously, after all, I'm the only doctor this sorry excuse for a town has, so I need to stay healthy." There he was, joking again, although he was determined to protect...the hospital, right?...at all costs!
"Exactly, though I believe we'll have Josiah Boone back in the fold before too long. A hospital will be difficult, for any medical man or woman. I believe that yes, a shoulder holster, a smaller pistol would be perfect, and, I believe most people would understand when you removed your coat that there is a need for self-protection from outlaws and Indians."
"So, shall we get on over to the Lickskillet and a bucket of hot coffee, since the Lord seems to want the sun to be some kind of special guest?" She asked. Closer to where the men at number six Washington Street were.
