Sit down, shut up, don't touch anythin'
As if Addy couldn't agree at this point! The boy's face had lit up, and he was looking at her eagerly. The idea was planted, and there it was.
"Reckon," she agreed with a nod, "so long's he put half of it in th' bank." Weedy just rolled his eyes, but twelve cents was better than nothing. "An' when we get home," Addy continued, "we can talk about an allowance fer th' chores ya do around th' place...yer old enough now, an' yer a good help around th' place." She grinned. "Only just, no more sneakin' inta th' theater!"
"Yes, ma'am." Weedy nodded contritely, but then he grinned. He was going to be rich!
"Well now, that would be the smart thing to do. Bank half of your earnings and watch it grow. Yes, sir, a man who has savings is a man who always has money in the event of an emergency." Josiah said with a wink to the young man.
Leah smiled, "That is a sound decision. Money in the bank is a great strategy, and if you find other chances for earnings, saving half is the way to go. It's what I've always done. Tomorrow will be a trend letter day for the Chappel business. I promise you." Angie nodded in agreement.

"Well, then, we best be gettin' home," Addy declared, standing, and causing the gentlemen to stand as well. "Gotta put up th' team and make sure Weedy done his homework."
The lad groaned and rolled his eyes, especially since 'checking' just involved Addy looking at the papers and pretending to know what they meant. Of course, she was getting better in her reading, and Weedy went along with her just to be nice. "I did my homework," he grumbled, standing.
"We'll check on Pops tomorrow an' see ya at th' Lickskillet after school." Addy was looking forward to hearing more about this investment scheme and hoping to understand what it meant.
Leah stood just after the men, followed by the other ladies, "This was a great conversation, and I believe the beginnings of a great business enterprise here in town, Addy."
"Yes, anything to help advance women in business, and further their quest for rights within the state." Elinor chimed in, the words about women's rights might not sit well with the men at the table, but one thing was for sure: they agreed that Addy should build a reputable business."Not to worry, gentlemen, as you probably realized, Leah's fight to get the hospital built, with an orphanage to follow, was a stroke of genius, and a victory for women, at least in this town."
"Now I have to agree. What she proved was that a woman could get such a project started, as well as completed. So yes, I can see that there are plenty of women who have the capability to do whatever they set their minds to, isn't that right, Jonah?" Josiah said at length, I'ii just follow you out, Addy."

Addy laughed and shook her head. "Well, then, I'd best not set my mind ta fly ta th' Moon!" Glancing at Josiah, she nodded. "Ya need a ride ta town?" It wasn't far, but she had the wagon there anyway.
"Guess we'll see you all tomorrow afternoon, then?" Jonah commented, coming up behind Leah and putting his arm around her waist. Addy was an odd being, and fascinated him, so he was happy to help her make a good go of a proper business, not that he had much to offer.
"Yep, believe these old bones would rather ride than walk." Josia said with a smile. Nite all. With that he got tohis feet and set his hat on his head. It had been quite the evening, and that he hoped would lead to a good nights sleep.
Leah put her hand on Jonas, "Nite now, pleasant dreams. See you tomorrow!" She called out to them. She was excited about the meeting the following day.
"Good night to you three, and I too will see you tomorrow." Angie added in to the farewells. "Expect to be there for this. To see another woman succeed might not be what most women would do, but then most women had nothing better to accomplish than to find a husband and rope him in. And yes, I know all about keeping a house and having and raising children. Hard, but not the same dealing in a man's world!"
"Amen!" Elinor stated, nodding in agreement. "Done both, and dealing in a man's world on a business topic with men cam be hell. I never expected out here to be any different, and it was, it was worse."
