"Sure, Spring, sounds nicer'n now!" Justus chuckled and glanced at Cade. Well, there was a stay of execution for both of them! And Spring was calving season, the busiest time on a ranch besides the round-up. It would at least give him and Cade a chance to figure things out.
"So, now, what sorta food might we be expectin' on this here picnic?" Maybe that would sweeten the pot? Something really tasty might make them all the more enthusiastic. "There's th' waterfall at th' ranch," he then pointed out, "but it's awful far." A couple hours, at least, to get to the Rocking P.
"Ah, maybe, but yeah," Cade nodded, visibly relieved she had been thinking they would be going in the immediate future.

"Well, don't try and sound too excited about the prospect!" Sally gave an exasperated sigh. She was starting to know how Hettie felt!

"Ooooh, well, anything you like - but it's gotta be somethin' that's still good eatin' when it's cold. pie, tater salad, what not." she replied readily enough.

Sally gasped "A WATERFALL!! Oh, how romantic! Well, distance no object, if I can..."
But she was cut off by the strident tones of Mrs McMahon yelling from the back.
"SALLY CUTTS!! Where the heck is that girl?! SALLY CUTTS, GET IN HERE IMMEDIATE!!"
"Oooops, I'd better go!" Sally squeaked, jumping up, necking the rest of her drink and letting out a loud burp "Oops, pardon!" she grinned and with a quick "See ya later fellers!" she was gone.
