Well, the big premiere was over and quite a performance it was. Exactly how everybody saw it was uncertain but overall Constance had enjoyed it. It was not like the bigger far more professional theatre plays she saw back when she lived in Cincinnati but this was a small frontier town. And her new friend, Arabella, had been in it........wow, had she made a splash. Course some folk probably wanted to drown her but.........
Upon leaving the premises, the foursome (her, Justus, Sally, and her date Cade) discussed doing something for the rest of the evening. It was decided, in fact she offered to take them to her uncle's home and they could chat with some liquid refreshment. That would coffee or tea or both. Once seated at the kitchen table, which luckily had exactly four chairs (her uncle once raised a family though now he lived alone until Constance showed up), she now busied herself with preparing the libations.
"First off what does everyone want? I have tea and I believe he has some coffee left too...just a minute."
Upon opening the correct container she nodded, "Should be enough though I really should buy him some more next time I'm in the General Store. He is rather forgetful about such things."
Cade glanced at Sally but then answered softly, "I'll take coffee then." It was what he was used to.

Cade glanced at Sally and she lolled her tongue out of the side of her mouth, crossed her eyes and made a 'screwy' motion with her forefinger placed on her temple, implying that the old gadger must be going senile.
Her date answered softly, "I'll take coffee then." It was what he was used to.
"I'll have coffee, too - just like Caaaaaaaaaade" purred Sally, slipping a deft arm through Cade's, as they sat at the table. She looked longingly into his eyes "Isn't it funny how we like exactly the same things?"
She looked over at Constance.
"Are you sure I can't help?" she asked the older girl, before turning back to her cowboy "I'm real good at cookin' and makin' coffee and such y'know, Cadey. I'd make a real good wife!" Then she nudged him. "Hey, don't be afraid to try and kiss me if you want..." she whispered him some advice "... I won't put up too much of a fight!"
Justus quietly followed the others into Conastance's uncle's house, looking around curiously as they made their way to the kitchen. This seemed so 'normal', and he was glad that she had the chance to live somewhere clean and safe. He had to wonder what it would have been like, to grow up with a ma and pa...well, an adult, who cared about you, but there was no sense pining for what was gone.
"Sure was interestin'," he agreed with the others, "wouldn't mind seein' another now an' then." Particularly if Constance was going to be there! Well, only if Constance was going to be there!
"I'll have coffee, too," he answered after Sally, then he grinned and added, "just like Cade!" He shot his friend a smirk, then stood and headed to the kitchen, even though Sally had offered to help.
"Can I carry somethin' for ya?" he asked Constance, "mugs, sugar or somethin'?"

Cade had not expected her sudden move. A little bold considering there was another couple in the room. Course he had to remind himself Sally was from the saloon crowd. But not a hooker, least he didn't think she was a hooker?
"Umm, not sure 'bout that, Sally," Cade was leery now of agreeing to such blanket statements.
"Are you sure I can't help?" Sally asked the older girl, before turning back to her cowboy "I'm real good at cookin' and makin' coffee and such y'know, Cadey. I'd make a real good wife!"
"I bet," Cade smiled nervously. Marriage? He was certainly not thinking about any such thing as marriage. And 'Cadey'? Really?
"No dear, it's alright," Constance assured her. She knew where everything was and had done this so often before. Besides she worked in a diner!
Sally now was back to concentrating on the young cowpoke.
"Hey, don't be afraid to try and kiss me if you want..." she whispered him some advice "... I won't put up too much of a fight!"
"Not much of a one for fightin' anyhow," Cade quipped then pointed out, "We got us other people here now, ya know?" Hopefully Sally would take that as a 'NO'.
Justus offered his view on the play, "Sure was interestin'," he agreed with the others, "wouldn't mind seein' another now an' then."
"I liked it. And I definitely plan on going the next time they put one on. A theatre isn't a once in a year thing, I would guess they will present another play maybe a month or so from now?" Constance called out while she readied the coffee, relieved no one had asked for tea so she only had to make one thing.

"No, thank you for asking, but I honestly can handle all this. Just sit and relax," Constance glanced toward Sally, "Maybe Sally will give us some thing to watch and enjoy?" It was a joke of course but right after saying it, she realized Sally might not get it.
Justus grinned at Cade's attempts to avoid the kissing, the then he offered some help to his friend. "Kissin' makes too much noise," he suggested, not that that was necessarily true, "don't want to wake th' uncle."
Not that Constance's conversation from the kitchen was particularly quiet.
But the suggestion that Sally entertain them...that could be dangerous, if not, well...entertaining!

Sally frowned and told the cowpoke straight.
"But Mr Gibbs, I don't know yet if he can do it quiet: he might be a slurper!"
She jumped up. This was no good; she'd just have to make Cade jealous.

Sally frowned and told the cowpoke straight.

"I am no such thing," Cade frowned. Why he was barely even a kisser truth be told but he wasn't gonna reveal that aloud.
Sally jumped up, startling Constance.

Constance had all she could to do to not bust out laughing. This one was a bold one alright.

Amused Cade replied, "Nope, maybe you should do it to him a couple more times and maybe I'll get it?" Poor surprised Justus.
This hadn't been what Justus expected, not in the least, to have Sally plop herself in his lap, then kiss him! And he definitely didn't get it! Of course, he was a bit distracted, and he glanced quickly at Constance, hoping she didn't think that he was liking this, even if he was a little!
"Um, a song, huh?" He shifted awkwardly in his seat, shooting an annoyed glare at Cade. "So, um, is it 'Safe in the Arms of Jesus'?" Not that he thought that was what she was getting at, but it seemed sort of funny. He at least hoped it was enough to end the game, and the lap sitting!
Well, Sally was giving them something, not necessarily entertainment at least not for all. The poor girl was certainly quite...desperate might be one word for it. Constance almost blurted out her first thought. That Sally was sitting on the lap and kissing the wrong young man in this double date. Cade looked...bemused was it? And Justus trying to be funny but even with his wit, he seemed uncomfortable.
"I have no guesses either, Sally. Perhaps you can just tell us and we can move on to other.......topics?" she strongly suggested, wishing the tea would hurry up and be ready but one could not speed up boiling the water, nature alone did that.
One thing Constance mentally resolved. No more double dates!

"He he he! That's not..." she wiggled her backside as she giggled, and then counted out the numbers on her fingers "That's only six letters, silly. Oh well, I guess you can't be handsome and good at sums!" she smiled at Justus in her pathetic attempt to make Cade jealous. Actually, Justus wasn't too bad looking himself, she mused. Maybe if Cade and Constance got together...
