- Born: 1833: Hartford Connecticut to wealthy parents. - 1856-57: Courtship by lawyer Richard Orr, whom she eventually marries over the objections of her parents. - Daughter Born 1st May 1858. Avon, nr. Hartfort, CONN. The birth is difficult and Mrs Orr's advanced young doctor uses Ether as an anaesthetic. In gratitude, Mrs Orr decrees that the baby girl be named Anaesthesia Ether. - 1861: No copperhead, Mr Orr heads South and offers his services to the Confederacy although he considers secession an awful mistake for the South. - 1862-65: Worrisome war years living in Charleston. - 1866: With the end of the war, Orr helps organise the newly revitalised Cattle Drives, employing a large number of ex-slaves and impoverished Texans. Spends his time between various points on the trail but, after recieving a mysterious letter, moves his family to Kalispell. Dotty becomes the local school mistress for a number of years. - 1867-74: School Mistress, Kalispell. - 1874: Mr Orr insists Dotty gives up teaching as he requires her to organise social events etc. A school Master is appointed in her stead who has to be dismissed after a a few months when it it discovered that he is unsuitable. Miss Bowen appointed in his place. - 1876: Husband killed when the reporter Phineas McVay sets fire to his office.
