Unnervingly tall, obese and ponderous

Big Sis has a bed reputation when she first arrives in Kalispell as she tried to take Emeline Pike's baby Wheeler from her during an attack by her crazed, retarded brother, Clement Lister, for which Barnabas 'Pronto' Pike shot her. Her life was saved by Dr. Angelique Laurant.

It remains to be seen whether the slow girl can regain any trust from the community.

Sis can't remember much about her childhood except that it was spent in poverty in the "Darwinian Democracy" of 1860s San Francisco. Everyday had seemed the same, her mother went out to do some sort of work, she stayed home and did washing and sewing and cleaning and, increasingly, tried to keep her 'queer' brother out of mischief. The only major excitement was the fire of 1863 when she was 2 and which she can't remember. Apparently, a Russian Sailor had rescued her from their burning hovel. Her mother had grabbed Clem and left her behind... "too big to carry". 

Both her and her brother were 'queer'. Clem was small and deformed, simple in the head, but full of violent rages. Neither of them went to school. She was tall, and despite the lack of food, big. By the time her mother died or, who knew?, just didn't come home one night, when she was 13, she was already 6 foot high. They had to eat: some feller offered her and her brother a job in a freak show and they toured about, but always Clem was a problem.

In the fateful year of Eighteen and Seventy Seven, they met Tom Love and his gang, oddly, during a stick up in a bank, where Sis had been sent to deposit some small amount of cash for the Freak Show owner. While she had stood with her hands in the air, wetting her drawers as a gun was poked in her face, Clem had wildly grabbed a gun from a bank customer's holster and joined in the raid, like a kid playing at bank robbers. Instead of shooting him dead, Love had been tickled and allowed the simian lad to join them. As they high tailed it out of the bank doors, Sis had been forced to make a decision: let him go, and just look out for herself from now on... or do as her mother had always bid her.

"Swear to me Cicely, swear on the Saints! Swear on the wounds of Jesus! Swear to me that you will always look after your brother! Swear it!!!"

She had sworn.

Grabbing the bank notes back, she had run out of the door after them. 

Sis is simple and slow, she seldom smiles, her beauty is locked deep within and may never shine.
