- Timeline
1835 - 1865
Born in St. Louis in 1835 to Harold and Millicent Jennings. His father was a prominent businessman and politician who died when he was three years old. His mother, Millicent re-married a year later and his half-brother Mark was born in 1842. Over the years, everyone except William to follow in his father's footsteps but around the age of 13 he came under the influence of Reginald Knight, a charismatic associate of his father. Knight told William stories about his father Harold, which slowly turned William against his step-father, Oliver Harper. Knight, for his own reasons, didn't like Oliver Harper and saw the perfect opportunity to make the man's life uncomfortable through his stepson William.
Under Knight's tutelage, William became experienced in psychological techniques, that Knight was teaching him. He kept up the appearance of a young respectable citizen but behind the scenes was a dangerous person to know using his good looks and charm to his advantage. His time in St. Louis came to an end when he was 20 years old with the suicide of Patricia White, an older widowed woman he was acquainted with. Following her death, there were rumours about how much William was involved in Patricia's life but nothing could be proven. His step-father, decides to send William away in order to kill any speculation.
After five years, William returns home to find his half-brother Mark engaged to Lucy Everett, a young lady aged 17. Lucy becomes enthralled with William and the tales of his adventures out west. Unbeknownst, to his family and Lucy, William has already been married twice (using a different alias each time) to women who have suddenly developed mental illnesses and had to be taken to asylums. Each of the women were rich and William, after marrying them, gradually gave them a hallucinogenic drug to bring on their hysteria. William was either made a heir or given power of attorney to their fortunes which funds his lavish lifestyle.
Knowing that Lucy will inherit a small fortune when she marries, William decides to seduce her and quickly steals her away from Mark. After their marriage, William deals with her in the same way he dealt with his previous wives. A short time after committing her to an asylum, the civil war begins and William declares that he's joining the union army. He leaves town and goes east to prey upon the rich lonely wives of men who had gone off to war.1865 - 1875
After the war, William heads south and becomes a successful carpetbagger using the tricks of his trade and marries another two times. In the early 1870s he goes west to try his luck. Around late 1874 after the death of his latest wife under mysterious circumstances, he leaves Denver (where he had been living). He eventually ends up in Kalispell and decides that this is the perfect place to lay low for a while.
Early 1875

To help fund his lifestyle, he legitimately invests in some businesses but also carries out some illegal activities. His good looks and charm come in handy as there are some very lonely widows in town as well a number of very impressionable young women, not mention men who eager to cash in on the mining boom and the proposed railroad.
