Born in Whitefish to Albert and Maureen Jefferson. He was their third child and only son. The family lived in Whitefish until the great fire in December 1875 that destroyed most of the town. Albert and his two daughters were killed, leaving Maureen and Dobie to fend for themselves.
December 1875 - Present
After re-locating to Kalispell, Maureen and Dobie stay with a family while they recovered from their ordeal. His mother eventually finds work as a housekeeper with the Wentworths in April 1876 when Charles Snr buys the Kalispell Bank and the house belonging to the previous owner. He gives Dobie a job of looking after the stables and doing odd jobs or chores around the house in return for a small wage plus room and board.
Since his mother wants him to go to college to gain a profession of some sort, he has to go to school for one more year (starting September 1876) much to his chagrin.
