- Timeline
1844 - Mid 1864
Kurt was born in Germany but his parents emigrated to the USA shortly after his birth. Wilhelm had a older brother already in the USA and together they buy a farm in the east.
In 1867, Wilhelm takes his family and along with one of his brother's sons move to an area south of Missoula (Mills) to try and raise sheep and crops. After a few years, Wilhelm sells his share of the farm to his nephew and the family move to Missoula.
Mid 1864 - January 1876
Kurt leaves home short after his 18th birthday to join the Union Army. He spends the remainder of the Civil War fighting small skirmishes. For a short time after the war ends, he remains in the army until he is recruited by the Secret Service.
For the next ten years or so, he works as an undercover operative for the Secret Service. During this time he learned a few trades and acquired skills he needed for various assignments.
In January 1876, after a harrowing assignment, he asks for a leave of absence from the Service to decide what he wants to do. He returns to his family farm in Missoula.
January 1876 - August 1876
When he arrives home, he learns that his father has been offered deal which includes a parcel of land outside Kalispell to see if sheep farming will be a viable industry in the area.
Soon after the snows melt, the Albrecht family move to their new farm, where they quickly build a home, barn and storage facilities. Kurt goes with them, still undecided about what he wants to do in the future.
August 1876
Accepts a position as Assistant Manager at the Belle-St. Regis Hotel in Kalispell. With the hotel owner, Matt Wentworth running for Kalispell Mayor, there is a possibility that he will become manager after the election. Kurt also decides to return to the Secret Service, taking over from Matt, to continue surveillance duties in the area. He and his sister, Anna move to a house on the southside of town.
